Application of Line Chart

Typically, a Line Chart would be used if the technical analyst wanted to display a large time period where it is impractical to view the Open, High and Low prices.  More often, Line Charts are used to display technical indicators such as moving averages, Bollinger Bands, etc.  In some cases, a Line Chart of a technical indicator will be overlayed on top of the OHLC price series.  Alternatively, the technical indicator may be drawn below or above the OHLC price series, with the same time axis.

A line chart may represent the plot of a stock closing price, market index, or that of a technical indicator such as a moving average.
